Major depressive disorder (MDD), panic disorder w/ or w/o agoraphobia, premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD), social anxiety disorder/social phobia in adults.
Adult ≥18 yrMDD Initially 25 mg daily, may be increased by 12.5-mg daily increments up to max: 62.5 mg daily. Panic disorder Initially 12.5 mg daily, may be increased by 12.5-mg daily increments up to max: 75 mg daily. PMDD Initially 12.5 mg daily, may be increased to 25 mg daily. Social anxiety disorder/social phobia Initially 12.5 mg daily, may be increased by 12.5-mg daily increments up to max: 37.5 mg daily. Elderly Initially 12.5 mg daily, may be increased up to 50 mg daily.
Discontinue use if serotonin syndrome or NMS-like events, seizure occurs. Monitor for worsening &/or emergence of suicidal ideation/behaviour or thoughts. Akathisia; history of mania; bipolar disorders; bone fractures; hyponatraemia. Cardiac conditions, epilepsy, narrow-angle glaucoma, known tendency for bleeding or w/ predisposing conditions. Avoid abrupt discontinuation. Not to be used w/ serotonin-precursors eg, L-tryptophan, oxitriptan. Concomitant use w/ tamoxifen, MAOIs, ECT. May affect ability to drive & use machines. Hepatic & severe renal impairment. Pregnancy. Not to be used during lactation. Not for use in childn & adolescents <18 yr. Elderly. 12.5 mg: May cause allergic-type reactions due to azo dye colouring agent.
